Ridiculously Practical Meals: Meat Sauce

Share it Please

Hubby always thinks pasta sauces need more meet. If we pick out sauce at the grocery store he always tries to find the meatiest sauce, and then is generally disappointed when he finds out it 'tastes like meat' but doesn't actually have any meat. The other day I surprised him with spaghetti that had the meatiest sauce he'd ever had, and he loved it! I loved it too, because it was so easy to make.

All you need is: olive oil, your favorite flavor of pasta sauce (I used this tomato basil sauce by Classico), ground beef, and sausage of your choice (I used this beef polska kielbasa sausage by Hillshire Farms). Start by putting a thin coating of olive oil on your cooking pan (about 2 tablespoons) and then cooking your ground beef. While this was cooking I chopped my sausage into bite-size chunks. My sausage was pre-cooked and just needed to be warmed, if yours is not precooked, please follow the instructions on the packaging. Once my ground beef was cooked all the way I added in my sausage chunks and cooked until they were warm. While my sausage was cooking I put 3/4 of the red sauce in a pot (you can use all of it if you want it to be saucier) and began to heat it on low. I waited until the red sauce was starting to bubble and then added in the meat. Stirring regularly I cooked it on low for another 5 minutes. The sauce is done! I mixed my sauce with cooked spaghetti noodles, topped it with Parmesan, and served. So easy and very filling. Bon appétit!

  1. This recipe it's amazing and this sauce have to taste good with every pasta :) And I see that you used in your recipe polish sausage (I'm from Poland), so it's nice to see polish's accent in your post, dear ;)

  8. Mmmmm I love meat sauce. Sometimes I love it more than the actual pasta but I feel guilty eating it by itself. Then I make up that I've given up carbs/gone gluten free. And then I have to keep up with it for the rest of the meal and that's just an ordeal. So... meat sauce... MMMM.
